Statesmen History
The Westminster Statesmen were founded in 1987 by a small group of hockey enthusiasts in south central London, England. The Statesmen are one of the longest surviving minority sports clubs in the country.
The club was originally formed as a recreational team within British Telecom with the aim of allowing people of any age, sex or ability within the company to play hockey for fun and recreation. Since becoming an independent club we have maintained this inclusive spirit and have a small, but dedicated group of players and supporters.
Playing friendly games anywhere within the country the squad has also made several trips to the US and Canada to participate in challenge games with other recreational teams. We have also participated in tournaments in Holland, Austria and the US.
